[World in Chains 03] • The Gilded Empire

When soldiers of the New Earth Empire capture Markus and Nadia, they find themselves in a land where magic and technology are combined to create wonders unlike anything they've ever seen. But beneath the surface, it is a troubled land, a place where those in power follow the destructive ways of Krinir. To protect the world, Nadia and Markus may have to do the unthinkable and destroy the empire's prosperity.

Meanwhile, Berig enters the New Earth Empire illegally. The penalty if he's caught is execution. But it's his only chance to save Danica from her fate in the Shadowed Land.

Lost in the Shadowed Land, Kara and Rik find themselves traveling in the company of the last person they expected: Darien Warrick. As they approach Krinir's fortress, Warrick remembers more and more of the truth of the world. But even that might not be enough when they come face-to-face with Krinir.

A prisoner of Krinir, Danica struggles to create a gateway leading back home. Krinir tells her that he's patient, but with every passing day, she fears more for her life and more for the world.

If Krinir returns, he will unleash destruction unlike anything the world's ever seen.
