Chapter 14

An hour later Sady snuggled up to him. He didn't push her away- she'd just be back in a few minutes. He lifted his arm and settled her closer.

A flash of light awakened him a couple hours later. “Room service,” the maid giggled as she hid her phone behind her back and closed the curtains.

“Later,” Matt scowled. She left, already texting someone. Matt flopped back with a sigh, knowing their fifteen minutes of fame would turn into fifteen minutes of shame. He just drifted off again when the silence was shattered by a blast of music.

Maroon Five's Moves Like Jagger blew out of Amanda's phone. “I'll get it,” she yelled, coming out of a dead sleep and apparently none the worse for her night of boozing. She glared at Matt like it was his fault, answered the phone, and announced, “This is personal, if you don't mind.”

Matt lifted a brow. “I don't mind as long as you take it somewhere else.”

Amanda flounced to the bathroom with the phone stuck to her ear. Matt looked down at Sady. She opened one eye and asked, “Am I dead?”

“Not yet.”

“I was afraid of that. How come you're always around when I've had too much to drink?” she asked with a yawn.

“I was going to ask you the same thing.”

“Where's the coffee? Is there coffee? Please tell me yes!”

He reached for the phone and ordered coffee from room service. “Tell them to bring it in. We're awake,” he instructed.

Sady held her head until the coffee arrived. Matt charged it to the room with a careless shrug. They might as well make it worth their while because CJ would explode, anyway.

After the coffee arrived Sady rushed for the pot while Matt pounded on the bathroom door. Amanda yelled, “It's occupied and I'm still on the phone.”

“There's fresh coffee.”

The bathroom door flew open, and she pushed her way past Matt. “Why didn't you say so?”

Matt ignored her and jumped out of the way.

After pouring a small amount and tasting it, she wrinkled her nose and asked, “What's this?”

“Uh, coffee... What's it look like?”

“That's a good question because it sure doesn't look like coffee to me. Where's the fancy swirls and flavor? This tastes like someone burned up a pot of beans and poured out the juice. And where's the danish and croissants? What kind of breakfast is this, anyway?” Amanda’s mouth was fresh and ready for the new day.

Matt scowled. “Did I say it was breakfast, Amanda? No! I said there's fresh coffee.”

Amanda made a mocking noise. “Not anymore. Sady just finished it.”

Matt flipped around and Sady gave him an embarrassed smile. “I thought you were done,” she said, offering him her unfinished cup.

He glared and picked up the phone. “Are you equipped with a siphon hose?” he asked her while he waited for room service to answer.

“Don't forget the food,” Amanda reminded him. “And make sure you get me some real coffee.”

“What do you call your real coffee, Amanda?” Matt asked with resignation.

“It's called cappuccino, Stubbles. Make sure you get it right this time.”

Matt ordered again. The server who brought the order checked the room over as he set down the tray.

“Did you lose something?” Matt asked.

The server turned red and hissed. “No, I just thought there would be more... damage.”

“Why would there be damage?” Matt asked as his left eye twitched.

“Seriously? You don't know?” The server looked at the women. Matt shook his head, and the server rushed over, whipping out his phone. Amanda and Sady crowded close to watch as their act from the Can-Can Club played on the screen. After the video ended, there was a picture of the three of them in the king-size bed. “This is a little disappointing to be honest.”

“We cleaned the mess in the room already,” Matt lied pushing him out the door. There was no point in complaining about the picture taken by the maid. It was racing through cyberspace and nothing could stop it now.

Amanda ignored her food and coffee. “We're an internet sensation,” she said sounding happy as she looked up from her phone. “I need to text all my friends. Breakfast can wait.”

Matt's eye twitched harder. “Just don't text Morrow or we'll both be in jail,” Matt said, hoping they had no friends in common. He turned to Sady, “You're very quiet.”

Sady looked up with crumbs on her face. She waved her second danish. “You might want to hurry. Oh, I saved you a cup of coffee this time.”

Matt reached his limit. He grabbed Amanda's phone. She howled, and he said, “Sit down and eat.” Pointing to Sady he said, “Leave something for us!” He grabbed his cup of coffee and a croissant.

“Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed, Blue Eyes? You're pretty darn crabby for a man who just woke up with two women in his bed.”

“Yeah,” Sady agreed. “I thought you said it was hot.”

“It was hot until you both got up and started talking,” he said crossly. His phone buzzed, and he looked at the text. “Now they want to know where we're at?” he muttered. To the girls he said, “Grab your shoes and your donuts because we're going back to our suite, now!”

“That's rude,” Amanda said. “I haven't finished my coffee yet.”

“Bring it along or I'll pour it in the sink,” he threatened.

“Matt, what did you do with my shoes?” Sady asked. “I can't find them.”

“Did you try looking on the floor next to the bed?” The eye twitching increased.

“Oops! There they are. It's a good thing we brought you along. Right, Amanda?”

“Huh! That's a matter of opinion. He still has my phone,” she complained.

“Matt, where's Amanda's phone? You didn't lose it did you?” Sady was talking to an empty spot. Matt had already left the room. She turned to Amanda. “Wonder what's eating him?”

“Guess he can't handle the celebrity status. We might as well enjoy our breakfast in peace, now that he's gone.”

They didn't make it back to the suite. Eventually, CJ sent a crabby Matt to round them up and get them to the airport for the flight to Michigan. An hour later she checked her watch and looked around the airport.

“Well, Harry, I guess they’ll have to catch another flight. I wonder what happened?”

He grabbed her arm and pulled her to the gate. “Don’t ask! I’m afraid Meadows might be getting his picture taken.”
