The Deal on the Side

“Babe I’ll be right back,” Aleesha told Savage while he was in the shower. She could see him washing his tantalizing body through the steamy see-through shower door, and it almost made her forget about her current mission at hand.

“Where you goin’?” he asked, turning to face her.

“I’m about to go to the store real quick. I’m feenin’ for some soda,” she responded, not wanting to take her eyes off of him.

“Aight, don’t be tryna go shopping. You better come back wit’ one soda,” he playfully threatened.

“Shut up,” she replied, laughing, “I can’t help that I like to shop, but I’ll be right back.”

“Aight,” he said with a laugh as he turned back around.

Aleesha grabbed the keys to her customized 2007 Chevy Tahoe, which she kept and only used in Oakland, and was out of the door. The SUV had run-flat tires, bulletproof windows and doors, and hidden secret compartments for some of her not-so-legal guns. It was painted metallic blue with a cherry red pearlescent paint over it, making the car color change from blue to purple when viewed at different angles. The interior was all black leather, with her name stitched into the seats. And an Alpine in-dash stereo along with two Rockford Fosgate P3 12” subwoofers in the trunk blasted her favorite tunes while she drove.

Aleesha’s first stop was a liquor store a few blocks away. She bought a Dr. Pepper and some candy, then was on her way to the bank. She had to go inside to pull the large amount of money she wanted out of her account, so she found a parking spot and went inside to talk to one of the bank tellers. It took her about thirty minutes—which she knew would be questioned by Savage—to go through the process of retrieving her money, so afterwards she stopped at the first grocery store she found and hurriedly shopped around for a few random things. When she got home, Savage was dressed and waiting for her. He wore black Armani Collezioni slim-fit jeans, with a navy blue Armani polo shirt, and black Armani sneakers.

When Savage saw Aleesha get out of the car and head for the trunk to retrieve the groceries she had just bought, all he could say was, “I knew it,” while he laughed and helped her bring the bags inside the house. Then they were on their way to meet with their connect.

They arrived at Scarface’s, who she met through Eli, in the early afternoon. Usually they did business with suppliers at one of the shops, but Scarface had become a close friend so they started meeting with him at his grow house. He grew nothing but exclusive top shelf purp and had grown a new strand, so they were highly excited and knew they wouldn’t be disappointed.

When Aleesha and Savage walked up and knocked on the door, they were greeted at the door by Bull, Scarface’s right hand man. Bull was a six-foot-seven, 300-pound Mexican muscle machine, and was quick on his feet, but even quicker with a gun. He searched them, then led them to the backyard. Scarface was in his grow house, a remodeled shed that he used to grow the weed in.

“Wassup cuddie?” Scarface asked as soon as he walked through the door. Scarface was tall and dark-skinned with a bald head. He looked like the singer Tyrese, except for the scar across his baby face that went from above his right eyebrow down to the bottom of his chin. He had gotten the scar in a fight when he was younger, giving him the name Scarface.

“Shit, same ol’, same ol’,” Savage said, giving him dap as they met in the center of the shed.

“You looking beautiful today Ms. Aleesha,” Scarface said as he reached in to hug her.

“Don’t I always?” she said with a smile as she exchanged a hug with him. “So what do you have for us today?” she asked, looking around at all the plants.

“I just grew some shit called Purple Cheese,” he said as he walked toward the back of the shed. Savage and Aleesha followed behind him. “Shit’s beautiful, ain’t it?” he asked as he grabbed a nug from off one of his plants.

“Oh wow!” Aleesha exclaimed in amazement as she stared at the crystalized deep purple bud. She sniffed it and almost got high just from the pungent smell. “Damn baby, smell this,” she instructed Savage as she handed him the nug.

“Damn,” Savage said as he smelled it, getting the same effect as Aleesha. “Let’s fire this shit up,” he said as he handed Scarface the weed back.

“Bruh y’all already know I got some in the house waitin’ for y’all,” Scarface stated to him.

“Shit, let’s go,” Savage said, ready to smoke.

They left out of the shed and Scarface led them into the house and to the den. Nothing was in there except for a couch, a coffee table, a stereo, and a three-foot bong. Aleesha and Savage took a seat on the couch, while Scarface went into another room to get the weed. He returned and handed Savage a glass jar containing the weed.

“I have three pounds of it ready right now,” Scarface said as he turned on some music. “Passenger Seat” by Snoop Dogg started bumping from the speakers.

Savage packed a bowl into the bong. He took a hit and immediately started choking off the weed smoke. “Damn this shit’s fire,” he said once he could breathe again. “Here babe,” he said as he sat the bong in front of Aleesha.

She started taking a hit and instantly began coughing, not able to take in the rest of the smoke. “Shit,” she said as she felt her whole body start to relax.

“Oh yeah, I still got that other plant for you Aleesha,” Scarface said, turning his attention toward her, “you wanna see it now?”

“Yeah,” she said as she stood up. “We’ll be right back babe,” she said as she placed the bong back in front of Savage.

He was sunk into the couch with his eyes closed, listening to the music. “Aight,” he said as he opened his eyes and leaned up to hit the bong again.

Aleesha followed Scarface out of the den and into the next room. There was a desk with a lamp, different sized scissors, and a few jars on top. There was also a trashcan on the side of the desk. Scarface used this desk to separate the buds from the rest of the plant and to make hash from the stems and leaves that he cut off of the buds. There were a few plants placed in the room that were curing. Scarface walked over to one of the plants and picked it up. “This all you,” he said as he showed her a thick purple plant.

“Oh my gosh, it’s beautiful,” she said, admiring the plant. Scarface laughed as he looked at her staring at the plant. “What’s so funny?” she asked, looking up.

“Your face, bruh,” he replied, still laughing.

“Whatever,” she said as he put the plant back down. “You know I love me some purp,” she said with a giggle.

“I know. It should be finished curing by the end of the week. You still gone be out here to get it right bruh?”

“Yeah, I’ll be out here until next week. How much you want for it?”

“That’s all you. It’s a gift,” he said with a smile.

“Really!” Aleesha exclaimed. “Thank you,” she said as she gave him a hug.

“You’re welcome,” Scarface said as his hands caressed her body. They pulled apart and there was an awkward silence between them. “Ay, I almost forgot, Bull in the kitchen waitin’ on you.”

“Okay,” Aleesha said as she turned around and headed out the door. She walked to the kitchen and Bull was at the counter, making a sandwich. “What’s up, B?” she asked as she got her some water out of the refrigerator.

“I got that nigga for you,” Bull responded, with a look of satisfaction across his face.

“Yeah I know, I heard. That shit was all up on the news. Good lookin’ out for real. Here’s the rest of what I owe you,” she said as she pulled out the wads of money from her Coach Rhyder satchel.

“No doubt,” he said as he took the money and disappeared with his sandwich from the kitchen.

Aleesha walked back into the den and Scarface was rolling up a blunt. She took a seat next to Savage and they started discussing business with Scarface as they smoked. After everything was all said and done, Aleesha and Savage got ready to leave.

“Ay, I’m about to use the restroom real quick,” Savage said to no one in particular as he left out of the den.

“Everything good bruh?” Scarface asked Aleesha, noticing the relieved yet worrisome look on her face.

“Hell yeah, I just hope Savage won’t find out. He always told me to come to him to handle shit like that, but I had to get that handled on my own. You know?” she asked in a hushed tone, making sure only Scarface could hear.

“Yeah I feel you, and don’t worry, your secrets will always be safe with me love,” he told her with a smile and a wink.

Two minutes later, Savage reappeared. They exchanged money with Scarface for the pounds of purp they just sampled, and were out the door with their new product.
