Cold Blooded

Cali was sitting in his living room, watching TV with a lot on his mind. He had been out of the hospital for a few weeks now, but still had no clue who could have shot him. Even though he promised God that if He let him live he would change his life around, some things were better said than done. Cali wanted to change, but the thug inside of him wouldn’t let whoever almost ended his life get away. He needed his revenge, and he knew that was a dish best served cold.

He had healed up pretty nicely but was still regaining his strength, so he didn’t go out much except for to the gym. That didn’t stop him from keeping his ears to the street though. He knew sooner or later, someone would come to him with the information he needed, although nothing could prepare him for the phone call he was about to receive.

“Heyyy bro,” Milasia sang into the receiver once Cali answered.

“Wassup sis, what yo big head ass doin’?” Cali teasingly replied back.

“Shit chillin’, but ay I found out some shit that you need to hear, but you might not want to,” she replied reluctantly.

“Shit, spit.” He knew whatever she was about to tell him was drama, but he knew it was something worth listening to.

“I don’t know who shot you, but I know who was behind it.”

“Who?” Cali asked. He couldn’t hide the anger in his voice.

“Aleesha.”

There was a long pause on the phone. He didn’t want to believe the name that came out of his step-sister’s mouth. “Man cuh, that shit ain’t funny.”

“Cali, does it sound like I’m fucking laughing?”

“Cuh who the fuck told you that?”

“Bro, I wouldn’t even bring no shit to you like this if it wasn’t true,” Milasia stated. “Look I’m not gone lie to you. I’ve been fuckin’ around with one of her nigga’s friends, and you know how niggas get when they pillow talkin’. He told me she had some niggas come after you. I didn’t even care to find out why, but I’m ready to go handle her for you.”

“Man that shit’s crazy,” Cali said, not able to believe what he was being told. “How the fuck did he find out?”

“I told you, that’s her nigga’s friend,” Milasia reiterated. “He told me that while her nigga was locked up, he went over to her house for somethin’ and you know how she smokes with everybody that comes over. So they smoked and I guess she just confided in him and told ‘em.”

“So was her nigga in on it?” Cali asked heatedly.

“Maybe,” Milasia answered, unsurely. “I know for sure it was some niggas she fuck with in the bay though. That’s why she went out there the day after it happened.”

“Wow!” Cali exclaimed. “That shit is unbelievable. Don’t even trip on it, sis. I’ma handle it, but I’ll hit you back later,” he said before he hung up the phone.

Cali couldn’t believe what he just heard. Why would Aleesha out of all people want to have me killed? he thought to himself as he got up and began pacing back and forth. The thought had never even crossed his mind before until now. He knew his sister wouldn’t lie to him, but he also knew Aleesha loved him too much to want him dead. He kept thinking about when she had come to see him in the hospital, and the sincere look on her face as she talked to him. He had to find out how much of Milasia’s statements were true, because things just weren’t making sense.

He tried calling Aleesha’s cell phone, but it kept going straight to voicemail. He took a seat back on the couch, as he thought about what his next move would be. All this information was too much for him to try and process, so he grabbed his keys and was out the door to take a drive. He drove to Mary Jane Getaway and saw both Aleesha and Savage’s car there, so he parked across the street and sat in it for a while. After an hour, Cali concluded that they were both going to be there all day so he drove back home, and as soon as he arrived, he received another unexpected call.

“Ay, what’s tha deal?” Juice asked Cali in a serious tone as soon as he answered his phone.

“Shit, what’s goin’ on cuh?” Cali asked as he parked his car and stayed sitting inside.

“I was callin’ to ask you the same thing. Yo baby momma wildin’ on twitter cuh,” Juice informed him.

“What you mean?” Cali asked surprisingly.

“She goin’ ham nigga,” Juice stated. “Which ex they think set you up cuh?”

“Man,” Cali said with a long sigh, “Mila called me with that shit earlier. Cuh said it was Aleesha.”

“Damn, are you serious?” Juice asked, bewildered.

“Yeah nigga.”

“Why? What the fuck did you do to her to make her want to kill yo ass?”

“Nigga nothin’. I told you we was in the room fuckin’ that same day. But Mila told me some shit and I’m just like damn, that shit really got me thinkin’.”

“That don’t seem like Aleesha though, she seem like the type to shoot you herself if anything.”

“Nigga I know. This shit is crazy. Out of all people I never expected her,” Cali admitted truthfully. “I thought my BM had somethin’ to do wit’ it at first cuz her ass threatened a nigga before, but I know she ain’t got pull like that.”

“So do you think Aleesha really had something to do wit’ it?” Juice curiously asked. “I mean nigga we got enemies. Honestly she would be the last person to try and kill you, but that is crazy if Mila told you that shit. Ain’t they like best friends?”

“Yeah that’s what tripped me out cuz they hella close. This shit got me on some whole other shit now.”

“Damn. So what’s gone happen if she did?” Juice asked.

“That’s what really got me on one. I still got love for her,” Cali confessed. “I’d really just wanna know what the fuck I did that was so bad to her that she wanted a nigga dead.”

“I feel you cuh,” Juice said understandingly.

“But if it was her, that shit would hurt havin’ to do some shit back to her.”

“Shit, if she did ... do her the same way she did you, have someone else hurt her,” Juice suggested.

“Shit I would have to,” Cali reasoned. “Damn cuh this shit is fucked up.” He let out a sigh. “I’ll hit you back later though cuh, I need to make some calls and figure some shit out.”

“Aight cuh gone.”

“Gone,” Cali said as he ended the call. He sat inside his car thinking for another ten minutes before he got out. He figured out what he was going to do about Aleesha, then gave Passion a call.
