The Aftermath

Aleesha had woken up to what seemed like a dream. She could barely see out of her swollen right eye, and she was lying in a hospital bed, hooked up to an IV. She had a cast on her left leg, and she could feel the wrap around her abdominal area. She knew her face was bruised and puffy by how it felt. She could see Savage sleeping in the chair next to her bed, and as soon as she came to the realization of where she was, she started crying. She didn’t care how hurt she was, she just cared to know if her unborn child had made it through the ordeal. She started to move around, and the sounds woke up Savage.

“Babe, you alright, how you feel, you need anything, and how the fuck did this happen, who did this to you? Whoever did it is dead on sight, just tell me a name babe,” Savage rambled frantically. He had sprang up out of the chair, and was ready to go to war.

Aleesha couldn’t even get any words out as she just shook her head. “Is my baby alright?” she asked, but the look on her husband’s face let her know what she didn’t want to hear. “Get me the fuck up outta here! I’m going to find and kill all those bitches!” she yelled. She tried to get herself out of the bed, but as soon as she tried to get up, the pain from her broken ribs made her yelp and fall back into the bed.

“Babe, stop tryna move,” Savage said, trying to help her get back into a comfortable position. “Who the fuck did this to you?” he asked angrily.

“I don’t know babe, I know it was a bunch of females.”

“So you didn’t see nobody face, a car, nothing?”

“No,” she answered as she shook her head. “They were in all black and had on ski masks. They just ran up on me.”

“Did they say anything to you?”

“No,” Aleesha lied. She couldn’t tell Savage that they had mentioned Cali. If he did have anything to do with her losing her baby, she wanted to deal with him herself.

“Fuck man, how many of ‘em was it?”

“Four.”

“Aight. I’ma step out and make a few calls,” Savage said as he kissed her on the cheek. “Lala should be here any minute,” he informed her.

“Okay,” Aleesha said weakly as she watched her husband walk out of the room.

No less than five minutes later, Lala came barging into Aleesha’s room. “Leelee, what the hell happened?” she asked.

“I don’t know, some bitches just ran up on me after I left the shop.”

“Who?”

“Bitch if I knew, my ass sho’ wouldn’t be sitting up in here,” Aleesha said irritably.

“You didn’t have yo burner on you?” Lala asked.

“I left it in the car.”

“Fuck, best friend.” Lala shook her head, distraught. “You know to never leave yo shit.”

“I know, and it’s crazy cuz that’s the first time I didn’t have it on me when I was at work.”

“You good though?” Lala asked affectionately.

“Nah,” Aleesha said, staring back down. “I lost my baby.”

“OMG best friend,” Lala said as a sadness came over her face. “I’m so fucking sorry. We gon’ find the mothafuckas that did this.”

“I know. I’m just ready to go home,” Aleesha said as she peered back up at Lala. “Where’s Savage?”

“Oh, him and Marcus had to go take care of something,” Lala advised her. “Don’t trip, I’m not leaving your side, Leelee.”

“Thank you, best friend,” Aleesha expressed appreciatively. “Can you go find my doctor and see when I can get the hell up out this bitch?”

“Sure thing,” Lala said as she went to find Aleesha’s doctor.

“Man, we need to find the bitches that did this,” Savage said to Marcus while he drove. They were on their way to nowhere in particular. Savage just needed to clear his head and try to make sense of things.

“I know my nigga, but right now you need to be by your girl side, we already put money to the streets. It ain’t gone take that much longer before a bitch come talkin’,” Marcus assured him.

“Yeah you right. Fuck!” Savage screamed angrily. “I just hate seeing her in there like that.”

“Me too, bro,” Marcus agreed.

Savage and Marcus arrived back at the hospital twenty minutes later, just in time to see Lala walking through the parking lot. As soon as Savage parked the car, Marcus hopped out and ran to catch up to her.

“Where the fuck you comin’ from?” he asked her while viciously grabbing her arm, stopping her midstride.

“Nowhere, nigga!” she exclaimed. “I just came from the car. Leelee knocked the fuck out after they gave her some pain medication so I went to smoke a blunt.”

By this time Savage had caught up with them. “Bitch you better not be lyin’,” Marcus responded as they walked toward the entrance doors.

“Nigga what the fuck I gotta lie to you for? Shut the fuck up!” Lala yelled back.

“Don’t start acting stupid cuz we out in public, blood!”

“Whatever bitch ass—”

“Ay y’all calm down. Now ain’t the time for this shit,” Savage said interrupting Lala, irritated by the couple’s unnecessary bickering.

“You right, my bad foolie,” Lala apologized. “The doctor said they’re releasing her in a couple days. Those bitches did damage, but not enough for her to stay too long. Man I can’t wait to catch one of them slippin’.”

“Nah don’t even worry about them. That’s gone get handled,” Savage said as they made their way into the elevator.

Right before they got to Aleesha’s room, Marcus received a call. “Ay I’ll be in there, I gotta take this call,” he said aloud as he stopped.

“Aight,” Savage and Lala replied in unison as they continued into Aleesha’s room.

“What’s good?” Marcus asked into his Moto G when he answered it. Unknown to him, Lala was listening to his conversation at the door. “Who ... Shanika ... why the fuck would some Running Down Dear Lane ... man I’m on my way.” Marcus hung up the phone and started pacing.

“You alright, babe?” Lala asked as she walked out of Aleesha’s room.

“Yeah.”

“Who was on the phone?” she nosily asked.

“Why the fuck you always all up in my business?” he countered, getting angry.

“Cuz I can be.”

“Bitch, don’t start actin cute cuz we around mothafuckas. Fuck, you get on my nerves,” Marcus said while walking to the elevator.

“Where the fuck you think you going?” Lala asked, following behind him.

“Bitch, somewhere you not. I’ll be back to pick you up later.”

“You know what, fuck you!” Lala yelled out after him. He got on the elevator and flipped Lala off. “Ugh, I can’t stand that punk ass nigga,” she said while walking back to Aleesha’s room. “Ay Sav, can I ask you a question?” she asked Savage as soon as she got into the room.

“Yeah, wassup?” Savage replied.

“Has Leelee ever told you about the Ronnie situation?”

“Nah, who the fuck is that?” Savage asked with a perplexed look on his face.

“Some nigga from RDDL, but that’s some shit she’s gonna have to tell you on her own. But I think the bitches from there had something to do with this,” Lala declared.

“Why you think that?” Savage questioned her.

“Cuz I just overheard Marcus’s conversation. I didn’t hear everything, but once she tells you the story, it’ll probably make more since,” Lala assumed.

“But why wouldn’t that nigga tell me he might know who did this?” Savage lividly asked.

“Maybe he went to handle it himself,” Lala guessed. “Leelee is like a sister to him.”

“Man ...” Savage said as Aleesha started to wake back up.

“Hey baby, you back,” she said to Savage as soon as she saw him.

“Yeah.” He got up to shut the door, then walked back toward the bed and took his seat. “I need to talk to you about something.”

“What is it, babe?” Aleesha asked.

“How you know a nigga named Ronnie from RDDL?”

Aleesha explained the story of the horrendous night she faced a few years back to her husband. He felt grief, remorse and anger for his wife, and he felt like if he hadn’t fucked up back then, she would’ve never had to go through that.

“Fuck babe, I’m so sorry,” Savage said, looking at his wife with tears in his eyes.

“It’s okay, I’m okay now,” Aleesha reassured. “But why did you ask me about that?”

“Cuz I got word that they might’ve had somethin’ to do with this,” he informed her.

“That’s not possible though,” she said, thinking about the situation. The women who jumped her said it was for Cali, they never mentioned Ronnie. Things just weren’t making sense, and she had to get to the bottom of it.

“What’s not possible?” he asked quizzically.

“Nothing,” she said as she shook her head, “just promise me you’ll get those bitches.”

“On me mommy I got you,” Savage promised her as he gave her a kiss.

“I want in too,” Lala said, surprising both Aleesha and Savage.

“Nah best friend, you don’t need to be involved in no shit like this,” Aleesha explained.

“Best friend, I’m not finna let no bitches get away wit’ killing my God baby and putting yo ass in here. I’m a grown woman, and I know what type of shit you really do and I can handle it. Shit, I watch the ID channel,” Lala said, making everyone in the room erupt with laughter.

“Aight bitch. Just be careful,” Aleesha warned.

“I will,” Lala stated with confidence. “I love you boo.”

Aleesha replied genuinely, “I love you too.”
