Bartley Gorman (1944–2002) was the undefeated bareknuckle boxing champion of United Kingdom and Ireland, a title often referred to as “King of the Gypsies.” Raised in the Irish Traveller community, both his grandfather and great-grandfather were also boxers. Gorman had his first bareknuckle fight at age 12. He first won the national championship at 28 and remained unbeaten until his retirement in 1992.
