Sebastian Suggate, Ph.D., born 1981, is a lecturer in education at the University of Regensburg, Germany. He was born in New Zealand where he studied psychology, receiving his Ph.D. in 2009 from the University of Otago. In 2010 he moved to Germany, working as an Alexander-von-Humboldt postdoctoral researcher at the University of Würzburg. Subsequent to a first stint in Regensburg, he was a professor in developmental psychology and education at Alanus University, where he was also involved in training Waldorf kindergarten teachers. His research focuses on children’s language, fine motor skills, electronic media and reading development.
Tamara Suggate, M.Sc, born 1984, is currently employed in a Steiner kindergarten in Regensburg, Germany. She was born in England before emigrating to New Zealand as a child. She also studied at the University of Otago, receiving a Masters in Psychology in 2009. In 2010 she moved with her husband and then two daughters to Germany, where two further daughters were born. All their children have attended, or do attend, Steiner schools/ kindergartens. Both Tamara and Sebastian have been involved in founding a new Waldorf school and kindergarten in Regensburg.
