About the Author

JEFFREY PFEFFER is the Thomas D. Dee II Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, where he has taught since 1979. He is the author or coauthor of fifteen books, including Leadership B.S., Power, The Human Equation, Managing with Power, Hidden Value, Hard Facts, Dangerous Half-Truths, and Total Nonsense, and The Knowing-Doing Gap. From 2003 to 2007, Pfeffer wrote a monthly column, “The Human Factor,” for Business 2.0. Pfeffer has presented seminars in thirty-nine countries throughout the world and provides consulting and executive education for numerous companies, associations, and universities in the United States. He won the Richard D. Irwin Award for scholarly contributions to management and has been listed in the top twenty-five management thinkers by Thinkers50 and as one of the HR Most Influential Thinkers by HR Magazine. In 2011, Pfeffer received an honorary doctorate from Tilburg University in the Netherlands.
