It was so much fun jumping back into the world of Romantic Comedies. This is the genre I love reading the most (but I also love fae fantasy, mystery/thrillers, and historical romances).
There were lots of inspirations I drew directly from my life. The podcast Missing Girls was inspired by a combination of The Murder Squad and Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert. I’ve become obsessed with podcasts and can be found with one AirPod in my ear most of the day. (Only one so I can hear my children when they scream MOM!!).
The incident Peyton mentions when she grabbed some guy’s junk and broke it…that happened to a friend of mine.
I do triathlons (I know, I’m crazy), and it was fun to poke fun at cycling a bit in this book. I have a love-hate relationship with the spandex uniform. And I did get stuck on Canal street once on a Citi Bike during rush hour and it was terrifying.
TruTone is inspired by a real company called Browndages. God bless ‘em and what they’re doing. Check them out here: browndages.com
I hope you had as much fun reading it as I did writing it and if you want to reach out about anything in this novel or to chat any and all things books, you can do so here: hi@brookestantonbooks.com
