1 Samuel 9:26–10:27
In the morning, Samuel walked with Saul from the town. Sending the servant ahead, Samuel told Saul, “God has told me to anoint you king to rule over Israel.” He then poured olive oil from a small bottle onto Saul’s head.
“This is how you’ll know it’s true: As you travel, you’ll come to Rachel’s tomb. There two men will say, “Your donkeys have been found. Now your father is looking for you.” And so it happened.
After 300 years under the judges, Israel had its own king.
