Genesis 21:14–20
Early in the morning, Hagar and Ishmael left Abraham’s tent. He gave them bread and a bottle of water for their trip. But the water ran out. Hagar didn’t want Ishmael to die in the desert sun. There Hagar broke down and cried. But the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven. “Don’t be afraid, Hagar. Lift up your son and hold him. He’ll have a great family.” Then God showed her a well of water, and they drank.
Ishmael grew up, and God was with him. He lived to become a hunter in the desert.
