2 Kings 9:16–10:31
The watchman at Jezreel looked across the countryside. “I see a company of soldiers,” he reported. “Jehu must be leading them. He drives like a maniac. Maybe he has news of the battle with Syria.”
Judah’s King Ahaziah was in Jezreel visiting King Joram of Israel. They set out in their chariots, hoping for news. Jehu had other plans because of the young prophet’s words: “Destroy Ahab’s family.”
“Is it peace?” Joram asked.
“How can there be peace?” Jehu answered. “Never while your mother Jezebel still practices witchcraft.”
Joram turned his horses and ran, shouting, “Treason, Ahaziah!”
Questions: Why was Jehu going to Jezreel? Why did Joram think Jehu was coming to Jezreel?
