Part One
Esther 3:1–6
King Ahasuerus gave a man named Haman power in the empire. The king allowed Haman to do whatever he wanted. The king even commanded that people bow to Haman when he passed. Everyone did this. Everyone but Mordecai, who only bowed to worship God.
Haman was outraged that Mordecai wouldn’t bow down to him. But he felt he was too important to deal with one Jewish man. So Haman plotted to destroy all the Jews in the empire.
No one knew that Mordecai was Queen Esther’s cousin. Nor was it known that Esther was a Jew.
Questions: Why didn’t Mordecai bow down to Haman? What did Haman plot to do because Mordecai wouldn’t bow to him?
