Part Three
John 9:26–41
I already told you, Jesus gave me my sight,” said the once-blind beggar. “Do you want to be his follower like me?”
The Pharisees cursed him. “You follow Jesus. But we’re followers of Moses. We know that God spoke to Moses. But we don’t know where Jesus comes from.”
“This is amazing!” exclaimed the man. “You don’t know where he comes from? He opened my eyes! Everybody knows that God doesn’t listen to sinners. God listens to those who worship and obey him. Since the world began, no one born blind could see. If Jesus weren’t from God, he couldn’t do this.”
“You were born a sinner,” said the Pharisees. “Do you think you can teach us?” They threw him out. “You can’t be a Jew anymore.”
Jesus heard they’d thrown the man out. Jesus went looking for him. He found the man and asked, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”
“Who is he, sir?”
“You’ve seen him. He’s speaking with you right now,” Jesus answered.
“Lord, I believe.” And the man worshiped Jesus.
Questions: Who does God listen to? What happened to the man because he followed Jesus?
