Acts 9:6–19
Saul lay on the ground, blinded by a light from heaven. Jesus himself spoke: “Get up and go into the city. There you’ll be told what to do.” The men traveling with Saul were standing speechless. They heard the voice but saw no one. They led Saul by the hand into Damascus. For three days, Saul was blind and ate nothing.
Then the Lord spoke to a disciple named Ananias. “A man from Tarsus named Saul has seen a vision. In it, you, Ananias, touch him so he can see again. Go and do this.”
“Lord,” Ananias said, “I’ve heard of this man. He’s done so much evil to your saints in Jerusalem. He’s come here to arrest people who call on your name.”
“Go, Ananias. I’ve chosen Saul to bring my name to people of all nations. He’ll bring my name to kings and the people of Israel. I will personally teach him how much he must suffer. This suffering will be for my name.”
Ananias went. “Brother Saul,” he said, “the Lord Jesus has sent me. Receive your sight. Be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Instantly, Saul could see again. He was baptized, ate a meal, and got his strength back.
Questions: Who did Ananias say Saul was going to arrest? For what would Saul suffer?
