Day 321

Saul—The Preacher of Jesus

Acts 9:20–31

Saul stayed for several days with the disciples in Damascus. Immediately, he went to the Jewish synagogues. “Jesus is the Son of God,” he declared.

“Isn’t this the man who made havoc in the church in Jerusalem?” After a while, some people plotted to kill Saul. But Saul found out. The gates were watched day and night. So the disciples brought him to a hole in the city’s wall. They lowered Saul down in a basket, and he escaped.

Saul returned to Jerusalem. He tried to join the disciples there. But they were afraid. “He doesn’t believe in Jesus,” they said. But a disciple named Barnabas introduced Saul to the apostles. Barnabas told them how Saul had seen the Lord.

“The Lord spoke to him in Damascus,” said Barnabas. “And Saul boldly preached the gospel there.” So Saul stayed with the church in Jerusalem. He spoke and argued with the Greek Jews, but they plotted to kill him. So the believers put Saul on a boat in Caesarea. From there, he sailed home to Tarsus.

And the whole church had peace and was built up.

Questions: What did Saul tell the people in the synagogues of Damascus? How did Saul escape from Damascus?
