Day 348

Saved from the Raging Crowd

Acts 22:22–30

Away with such a fellow from the earth!” the crowd raged. “He shouldn’t be allowed to live.” They shouted, threw off their cloaks, and tossed dust into the air. The captain hurried Paul into the building. They were about to whip him. Paul said, “This is against Roman law. I’m a citizen and have done no wrong.”

The soldiers were afraid. They’d chained a Roman citizen and could be arrested for this. The captain didn’t even know what Paul had done. So he brought the apostle to the priests and the Jewish council.

Questions: Why were the soldiers afraid? Where did the captain take Paul?
