Day 354

The King Hears the Gospel

Part One
Acts 25:13–19

Agrippa, the king of Galilee, and his wife, Bernice, visited Festus in Caesarea. “I’d like to hear this man Paul myself,” said Agrippa.

“Tomorrow,” agreed Festus, “you’ll hear him.”

The next day, King Agrippa and Bernice were escorted by military leaders and city rulers. “King Agrippa,” Festus announced, “here is the man I mentioned. People claim that he should die. But he has done no wrong.”

The king spoke to Paul: “You have my permission to speak.”

“I’m glad to tell you my story, King Agrippa,” Paul began. “You know the Jewish customs and matters of their law. Please listen patiently. I’m on trial because I believe God’s promise to our ancestors. All the Jews hope for this, as well. It is that God will bring us back from death. Yet now they accuse me because I believe this!

“I hated the name of Jesus. I was furious and punished Christians. I even traveled to faraway places to arrest them.” Paul described what happened to him at Damascus. He told the king of his heavenly vision.

Questions: Who was the king that heard Paul’s gospel? What is God’s promise that Paul mentioned to the king?
