Day 357

Paul’s Perilous Voyage

Part Two
Acts 27:12–26

Fair Havens wasn’t a good place to spend the winter. “Let’s take a chance and put out to sea,” the captain said. “We’ll try to reach Phoenix.” This nearby harbor would be safe from the winter storms. They drew in the anchor and set sail close to shore. Soon a violent wind rushed down from Crete. The ship couldn’t be turned to face the storm. The northeast wind drove them out to sea. Struggling for control, the crew lowered the sea anchor. The only sight was sea and sky. They were driven into the unknown.

Questions: Why did the captain want to sail to Phoenix? What happened when the storm blew down from Crete?
