Part Two
Revelation 1:13–20
John saw Jesus Christ walking among the lampstands. Christ was wearing a long robe with a golden sash across his chest. His hair was as white as snow. His eyes were like flaming fire. His feet shone like polished brass in a furnace. His voice was like the sound of many rushing streams of water.
John saw seven stars in Christ’s right hand. Out of his mouth came a sharp sword. His face was like the sun shining with full force. “I fell at his feet,” John said, “like I was dead. But his hand touched me. ‘Don’t be afraid,’ Christ said. ‘I’m the first and the last. I’m the living one. I was dead, and look, I am alive forever and ever.’
“Then Christ said to me, ‘Write down what I’ll show you. Send the book to the seven churches in Asia. These seven stars are the angels of the seven churches. These gold lampstands are the seven churches.’ ”
John wrote a great book called the book of Revelation. This book includes letters to the Christian churches. It also tells of the end of time. Finally, Revelation shows us what eternity with God is like.
Questions: What did Christ say to John when he touched him? What did Christ say about himself?
