Revelation 21:1–22:21
I saw a new heaven and a new earth,” John said. “The holy city, New Jerusalem, came from heaven like holy New Jerusalem, came from heaven like a city, New Jerusalem, came from heaven like a bride dressed Jerusalem, came from heaven like a bride dressed for her husband.
“A loud voice came from God’s throne. The voice said, ‘God’s home is with humanity. He’ll dwell with them; they’ll be his people. God will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more. Grief, crying, and pain will be gone. Old things are passed away. I’m making everything new.’
“New Jerusalem has God’s glory. It is green like jasper, clear as crystal. The twelve gates are named for Israel’s twelve tribes. Each gate is a pearl. The twelve foundations are named for the Lamb’s twelve apostles. These foundations are built of precious, colorful stones.
“Its one street is pure gold, transparent as glass. Out of God’s throne flows the river of water of life. The tree of life grows on the river’s banks. Its leaves heal the nations.
“Then Jesus said, ‘The Spirit and the bride say come. Anyone who wishes may freely drink the water of life.’ ”
Questions: What do the leaves of the tree of life do? What do the Spirit and the bride invite people to do?
