Juntacadáveres narrates the adventure of this character from the mythical Onettian territory of Santa María, when he undertook his attempt, as futile as he was desperate, to set up a brothel in the city.

Larsen, known as Juntacadáveres, arrives in Santa María with Irene, Nelly and María Bonita, three older prostitutes with whom he sets up a brothel. It is not just any place dedicated to simple sexual venting, or at least that is what Larsen intends. There, thanks to the know-how of the old prostitutes, men will know paradise and achieve happiness.

This eccentric company runs into relentless opposition from good people, like Father Bergner, whose sermons will set the spirits of the parishioners aflame.

«The greatest Latin American novelist.»

Julio Cortázar

«In all Onetti's stories a secret is hidden, and that hidden secret cannot be told. The success of a narrative often lies in these deletions. »

Mario Vargas Llosa
