To see whether the brand of canned kidney beans you buy matters, we put six brands through side-by-side taste tests. Tasting them both straight from the can and in a simple chili recipe, we noticed substantial differences in both texture and flavor among the various brands. While some brands tasted mushy, chalky, and bland, Goya Dark Red Kidney Beans were “beautiful, plump red beans” with a “very sweet, strong bean flavor.”
