Faith is unseen but felt, faith is strength when we feel we have none, faith is hope when all seems lost.

A mother and daughter from New Orleans relied on faith to endure an epic battle with COVID-19. I met them on the other side of their challenge, all smiles and praise for God’s grace. Nursing assistant Bridgette Robinson found herself in need of medical care, spending weeks on a ventilator fighting off the virus. Her daughter, Sylvia, worked as a nurse in the very hospital where her mom was struggling to survive. “It was definitely scary and heartbreaking,” Sylvia said. “Especially the fact that she’s my best friend.” When I interviewed the pair on Today, Bridgette recalled hearing her grandson’s voice on the phone when she woke up. “All I could think about is my grandson, and he was like, ‘Grandma, I need you, I love you, I need you, Grandma.’ I was just thinking . . . I gotta get back to him.” As a surprise, I asked Blake Shelton to join us live and sing his song “God Gave Me You.” Before he did, Blake acknowledged the women’s beautiful relationship. “You’ve got each other, and that’s what this is really all about. Literally a light shining bright on that screen right there.”
