This panoramic route, officially known as Ruta Panorámica Luis Muñoz Marín, runs along the island’s mountainous backbone from Yabucoa to Mayagüez. About 40 separate highways make up the clearly marked, well-paved route. It passes Cerro de Punta, the island’s highest peak, as well as a variety of montane forests. The route is best traversed with at least one overnight stay at a parador.
