About the Institute for Integrative Nutrition

Founded in 1992, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) has led the field of holistic nutrition education for more than 25 years and pioneered the concept of a Health Coach as a career. The mission of IIN is to play a crucial role in improving health and happiness, and, through that process, create a ripple effect that transforms the world. Its Health Coach Training Program allows students from all over the world to earn a Health Coach certificate. Today, 100,000 students in over 150 countries have gone through their program.

A primary concept of the curriculum is “bio-individuality,” which means that no one diet works for everyone. Each and every person has unique needs. As a result, IIN is the only school in the world integrating multiple different dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies like Ayurveda, macrobiotics, and Chinese medicine with modern concepts like the USDA food guides, the glycemic index, The Zone, the South Beach Diet, and raw foods. In total, the curriculum covers more than 100 different dietary theories and addresses fundamental concepts, issues, and ethics of eating in a modern world. In addition, the curriculum bridges the gap between nutrition and personal growth and development through a concept called Primary Food. Healthy relationships, regular physical activity, fulfilling careers, and a spiritual practice feed your soul and satisfy your hunger for living. When primary food is balanced, the fun, excitement, love, and passion of your daily life nourish you on a deeper level than the food you eat.

The Health Coach Training Program also features course material on coaching techniques and running a successful business. The goal of the program is not only to provide the critical knowledge necessary in order to counsel others on nutrition, but to be an effective coach and business owner as well.

The school is a place of profound learning, with guest teachers who are the world’s greatest nutrition and personal development experts, including Dr. Barry Sears, Deepak Chopra, Dr. Andrew Weil, Paul Pitchford, and Geneen Roth.

The Institute for Integrative Nutrition® graduates partner with physicians, chiropractors, fitness facilities, spas, schools, restaurants, retail stores, publishers, and corporations and work in private practice. For more information about Integrative Nutrition, visit www.integrativenutrition.com.
