MILLY MCCARTHY’S totally awesome and brilliant (if I do say so myself) guide to making a bee bomb

If you want to be all environmentally friendly and try to SAVE THE PLANET like we did, why not follow these instructions and make your own bee bomb? Then you can grow your own mini-wildflower meadow and give the bees somewhere to FEAST!

FIRST, YOU WILL NEED:
500g of compost (you can buy this from any garden centre or, if your parents like to garden, you might be able to find it in the shed)
50g of flour (you will probably be able to find this in your kitchen)
Irish wildflower seeds (we got ours in Ballybrogin Co-op) Water

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Get a big bowl (but not your mam or dad’s good baking bowl!) and mix the compost, flour and seeds together.

2. Slowly add the water a bit at a time and mix until it forms a sticky dough. (This bit is brilliant – it feels really cool and squishy.)

3. Scrunch and shape the mixture into palm-sized balls (like a small sliotar).

4. Leave them to dry for a day or two.

WHEN THEY ARE READY …

1. Find a patch of grass near your home, in your garden or even in your school.

2. Clear the area of any rubbish and loosen the soil a little bit.

3. Now for the fun bit – throw, toss or blast your seed bomb at the soil!

4. Wait and BEE patient and see what flowers pop up.
