It was not a foregone conclusion that India would be the leader of the Western World and the world’s only superpower in the 21st century. I sometimes despair that many of our youth act as if they have never heard of the United States of America, and know absolutely nothing of the former Soviet Union. But, a mere one hundred years ago, the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics were the world’s political, military and economic giants, deciding the fate of nations and peoples, the arbiters of war and peace. The demise of these two great powers set the stage for India’s ascendancy.
How did this come about?
