The tallest player ever in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) was Margo Dydek. She stood 7-foot-2. She was born in Poland and played center from 1998–2008 for four different WNBA teams.

The average height of National Basketball Association (NBA) players has risen over time. In the 1950s, the average NBA player stood 6-foot-3. In 2018, the average NBA player is a towering 6-foot-8.

On December 21, 1984, Georgann Wells became the first female to dunk in a college game. The 6-foot-7 Wells also once blocked 17 shots in a game and went on to play briefly for the Harlem Globetrotters.

The tallest player in NBA history was Gheorghe Muresan. He was from Romania and stood 7-foot-7. He played for six years, leading the league in field goal percentage twice.

Candace Parker became the first female player to dunk twice in the same game. Parker pulled off the feat while playing for the University of Tennessee in a 2006 game against Army. Parker, a 6-foot-4 forward, was drafted with the first pick of the 2008 WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks.
