The campaign goes on. I feel like no matter what I do, I end up back working for Maynard! The campaign is totally fucked up. We had three hundred free tickets to a Braves special kids day game and the field staff FORGOT to give them out! The tickets remained in somebody’s desk drawer until the game was over!
At a campaign forum tonight, the mayor couldn’t make it so he sent Councilman Q. V. Williamson, who is argumentative when people ask him questions and certainly not the best surrogate if you really want to be re-elected. Vince Egan, the candidate of the Socialist Workers party, says: “I think we should tax the rich.” And: “When the cops stop breaking into people’s homes and start breaking into boardrooms and beating those people’s heads for robbing the poor, then I’ll believe in the cops.” And: “All these candidates are talking about unemployment like it was snow that fell from the sky.” All classic quotes, I’d say, but nobody is taking him seriously. He is younger than me and so serious.
