APRIL 13, 1978

I feel productive again. I feel energized. I feel inspired. Columns and usable phrases are banging around in my head again. The drought is over! Thank you, Jesus! Could it be Meat Loaf who brought an end to the drought? Could it be Miguel Piñero and Short Eyes? So much energy in both those things. So much energy and outrageousness in Meat Loaf. So much craziness. Will he live to be thirty? Does he care? It’s not that you can’t trust anyone over thirty. It’s just that they are different. I am different, but I cling to the trappings that make it more the same. The music. The styles. I don’t know what the end will be, but this week, I am energized and ready to roll.

Meat Loaf has as much energy as Bruce Springsteen. He used to play with Ted Nugent. Gonzo is right. The man is a Hunter S. Thompson on guitar and just mad as a hatter. I loved it. And the people sitting next to me asked me if I got high and proceeded to share with me a joint of some of the best dope I’ve had as a freebie. Can you beat it? Not with a stick, my man. Not with a stick.
