Feel good. Feel good. Feel good.

Just got back from Confessions of a Female Disorder. A show all about growing up female. And growing into being a lesbian. Actresses on the stage kissing. The lesbian lead very sexy Jeanne Moreau kind of worldly/tough. The bi-sexual heroine was a bit tepid. A writer who opts for a husband instead of her work!

But now Deig is back with me and we’re headed out to dinner. We look at the moon. It is new and mist or a cloud fuzzes it in a yellow light. I show her how different it looks from when we looked at it last night. We o-o-o-o-o and ah-h-h and giggle. I tell her the moon has a lot to do with women and she says how. Menstruation, I say, and we talk about periods all the way home. I tell her: “You’re usually thirteen, but I was eleven and some people are fifteen or sixteen. It’s all normal.” We talk about Tampax vs. sanitary pads. We agree periods are a fact of life, but kind of a drag anyway. It’s getting late and she dozes in the backseat. I love her so much and she’s growing up so fast.
