Epilogue

July 21st

The hotel in the Cotswolds was perfect. Small enough to be exclusive but not so small as to feel they were on display.

As Shaun opened the door to their bedroom, Thea let out an exhalation of breath that she felt she’d been holding in ever since Shaun had bundled her in the car once Sam’s bombshell had sunk in.

‘Did that really just happen?’

‘You mean did Sam buy the manor and offer you a job? Yes.’ Shaun led Thea by the hand and sat her on the edge of the four-poster bed. ‘You didn’t give him an answer though. Will you take it?’

‘I can’t do it. I’ve already taken a job with you on Landscape Treasures.’

‘True, but as I’m well in with the lead bloke, then I think I can swing it that he’ll release you from all obligations to the post, if that’s what you want? If you’d rather work at Mill Grange.’

‘And live there. I wondered if I could have the room you were using.’ Thea climbed astride Shaun’s lap and grinned. ‘So, how would the lead bloke on Landscape Treasures feel if he had to travel around Britain without me for part of the year?’

‘He would pine naturally, but he rather hopes that, once Sam has the retreat up and running, and it isn’t the holiday season, you’d come and help him out anyway.’

‘I think that could be arranged.’

‘There I was thinking I’d finished work for a while.’ Thea pushed Shaun back against the bedcovers. ‘It appears that the restoration of Mill Grange has only just begun.’
