The Spider
(For Spanish translation click here)
It is an enormous spider no longer moving;
a colorless spider whose body,
head, and abdomen, is bleeding.
I‘ve seen him so close today. With what strength
he lengthened his innumerable feet
to every side.
And I think of his invisible eyes
those fatal pilots of the spider.
It’s a spider who shivered, fixed
at the edge of a stone;
the abdomen on one side
and on the other, its head.
With so many feet the poor thing, and yet he cannot
make himself out. And I, watching him
amazed in such trance,
what strange pain this traveler gives me today.
It’s an enormous spider, whose abdomen
prevents him from following his head.
I’ve thought about his eyes
and his numerous feet . . .
And what strange pain this traveler gives me today!
