When you’re getting rid of all the unnecessary items in your home, pace yourself. I’m not recommending that you start at 8:00 AM and work at it until dinnertime. Once you decide to transform your living space, you might want to tackle it all in a weekend, but you’ll better serve your new vision and protect your personal sanity if you take time to create a plan of attack for each area or project.
You can do a lot in 15-minute blocks of time. For every 45 minutes that you work, give yourself a 10-minute break. Change pace, go outside, get some fresh air, walk around the block, get dinner started, vacuum a room—anything to switch gears for a while. When you return and once again focus on de-cluttering that area of your home, you’ll feel refreshed and your perspective will be brighter.
