Monitor

Darkness.

Cadell’s voice. “What was that?”

Andy dragged her head off the pillow in his bed and checked the clock on the nightstand. They had only been asleep for around three hours.

A ragged gagging filled the room. Red light flashed.

She said, “I don’t know.”

“It’s the baby monitor.” Cadell rolled off his side of the bed and sprinted for the door. “That’s Emily. Something’s wrong.”
