Special Occasion Memento

Instead of saving all your special wine corks in a bowl, why not memorialize an event with this lovely keepsake? You can hang several on a wall, or give one as a gift to the person you shared the moment with. These would even look great as ornaments on a tree!

You will need:

* Small paintbrush

* Acrylic paint

* 4" × 4" canvas

* Assorted paint pens

* Hot glue gun

* Cork from a special occasion

* Markers, pens, alphabet stamps, label makers, or printed fonts, as desired

* White cardstock

* Nail or thumbtack to hang

  1. Paint the center of the canvas, leaving a 3⁄4" border unpainted.
  2. Use paint pens to make the striped border, as shown. Add additional details if desired.
  3. Glue the cork in place on the top third of the painted square.
  4. In your prettiest writing, write out the date and occasion on the white cardstock. Cut out and glue under the cork. If your writing is terrible, feel free to improvise with alphabet stamps, label makers, or printed fonts from your computer, as I did.
  5. Hang on a small nail or thumbtack.

This canvas is a perfect size to use as an ornament. Instead of hanging with a nail, simply attach a ribbon or string to the back.
