Scott G. Bruce is a professor of history at Fordham University. He is the editor of The Penguin Book of the Undead, The Penguin Book of Hell, and The Penguin Book of Dragons, and has written four books about the abbey of Cluny. He has lectured throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, and has held visiting research appointments at the Technische Universität Dresden, in Germany; the Universiteit Gent, in Belgium; Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, in the United Kingdom; and the École des hautes études en sciences sociales, in France. He worked his way through college as a grave digger.
