BABY FOOD JAR PARTY FAVOR

Not only are baby food jars adorably small, but they are readily available and inexpensive. If you have a baby yourself, or know someone who does, chances are you can get a lot of jars for free. Your guests will fall in love with their new mini garden, and you can feel great about giving them a charming upcycled gift! These work great as favors for weddings, baby showers, or even small dinner parties.

WHAT YOU NEED

WHAT TO DO

  1. Line the bottom of your baby food jars with a layer of pebbles to create an alternative drainage system.
  2. Fill the rest of your jars with well-draining soil.
  3. Plant your succulents. If it’s easier, use a pencil or similar pointy tool to create a hole in the soil where you want to plant your succulent. You can plant one succulent or a few smaller ones.
  4. Use your pen to write “Thank You” on your favor tags.
  5. Attach the favor tags to your baby food jars with the thin twine. You can tie the ends in a bow or knot, depending on your preference.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Since baby food jars do not have proper drainage holes, you will need to water these mini arrangements less often than your other plants. Succulents don’t do well when their roots are sitting in soggy soil, so take special care to only water your jars when the soil is completely dry.

TIP!

This project can double as a placecard holder! Instead of writing “Thank You” on the tag, you can write your guests’ names and leave the little favor on their place setting.
