CENTERPIECE
When creating centerpieces for an event, you usually want to keep the cost to a minimum since you will be making at least one for each table. Rather than spending a fortune on fancy logs from a craft store, or chopping down trees yourself, this project repurposes wood from an unlikely and inexpensive source: lawn edging! Rustic logs paired with stunning gold-painted succulents will bring a charming simplicity and elegance to your special day.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Wooden Lawn Edging Logs
- Scissors or Razor Blade
- Lace or Burlap
- Hot Glue
- Succulents
- Gold Spray Paint, or other color
- Flowers
WHAT TO DO
- Wooden lawn edging comes attached together by a thin plastic strip. Use your scissors or a razor blade to cut apart your logs.

- Hot-glue a strip of lace or burlap around the bottom of three of the logs to cover where you cut the plastic. You can make the strip whatever width you’d like.
- Hot-glue the three logs together. If you don’t want to hold them together while the glue sets, tie them together with a string and let them sit until the glue has completely dried.
- There will be a hole in the center where the three logs meet. You can use this hole as a “vase” for flower stems. (Keep in mind that you’re not using soil or water, so you’ll need to find plants that won’t need water or use faux flowers.)
- Choose a succulent or a couple of them, cut off their stems, and spray-paint them gold or another color that fits with the color palette of your event.
- Place your spray-painted succulent on top of your logs along with some flowers of your choice.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
When your event is over, plant your succulents in well-draining soil. With proper care, even your spray-painted succulents will continue to thrive!
