BOUTONNIERE
Boutonnieres are commonly worn by men at weddings and other special occasions. At weddings, boutonnieres traditionally complement the bride’s bouquet. They are very simple to make, and if they are made entirely of succulents they can be assembled days, even weeks, in advance.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Succulent Cutting
- Flowers
- Floral Wire
- Wire Cutters
- Green Floral Tape
- Jute Twine (Optional)
- Boutonniere Pin
WHAT TO DO
- If your succulent does not have a very long stem (shorter than an inch), you will need to stem your plant. Insert floral wire into the short stem of your succulent. Cut the wire to the length you want your stem to be. Wrap the plant’s stem with floral tape. Begin as close to the base of the plant as possible and work your way down to the end of the wire.
- Group together your succulent with one or two other flowers, or greenery. I used blue thistle and wax flower. The succulent should be the focal point.

- Wrap the group of stems with floral wire followed by floral tape. Add a boutonniere pin to attach the arrangement to a suit or shirt.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
When your event is over, dismantle your boutonniere and de-stem your succulent cutting by removing the floral wire. Let it callus over for a few days and then plant it in well-draining soil. With proper care, your succulent will continue to thrive!
TIP!
To create a more natural look, wrap the stems in jute twine after the floral tape.
