REVIEW FROM THE International Review of Books
Review of “Melanie: A Tale of Wonder”
“Which line stood out from all the others in the book?
“It’s him. It’s really him!”
General Summary for Context:
We meet Aaron Jones, an elderly gentleman obviously down on his luck and badly in need of a shower. We are taken through a day (or two) in his life, where he gets a chance to show people what he’s really made of. Despite being broke, he is generous and courteous, but he has a plan in the back of his mind. And it’s this plan-and what he does-that really makes this story one of a kind.
Concise Review:
Aaron is a former singer but has had serious sinus problems for years. After a minor car accident, the driver of the car that hit him (a physician) insists he goes to the hospital to get checked out. He does and meets a lovely little girl, a nice nurse, and an attentive doctor, who removes a polyp from his nose, making it possible for him to speak normally again. He decides to enter a talent contest that night, and what happens almost brought me to tears. I guess good things do come in small packages!
General thoughts on the Novel:
The sweetest and most touching short story I have ever read. So heart-warming that I almost felt as if I was really there in the audience while Aaron was singing his heart out and performing encore after encore. He loved every minute, and the audience loved him.”
