Author’s Note

This book is dedicated to my friend, Carol Lilly, who led me on several death-defying hikes. I’m glad we survived!

My understanding is that nuclear EMP devices that could be carried in a backpack or suitcase do not currently exist. While there are dangers associated with high altitude nuclear explosions, the likelihood and extremity of such an attack has apparently been vastly over-emphasized in books and movies. I apologize for taking liberties with this scenario in my story, but it was too tempting to pass up.

I’ll be the first to admit that my grasp of technological advances is less than complete; however, I am concerned about our growing dependence on technology both personally and globally. This series is designed to raise awareness regarding that dependence, as well as any corresponding vulnerability. If the subject interests you, I suggest you do some research. In my opinion, knowledge is a good thing.

As is always the case, I am grateful for my pre-readers, Kristy and Tracy. This story was also made better by Teresa, who served as editor, cover designer, and formatter. All three of you are awesome.

And finally ...always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:20).

Blessings,

Vannetta
