This is a ritual for purification from the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the group responsible for codifying and preserving much of what is practiced as magick today. This is a simplified version.

• Sit on a chair with your hands on your legs and your feet planted flat on the floor. Imagine a black sphere of energy encircling your feet. It should be about twelve inches in diameter.
• As you inhale, imagine fire coming up from the center of the earth, burning your feet and the black ball around them. Continue to inhale, bringing a stronger and stronger blaze. When you exhale, let it feed the flame, making it burn hotter. The black ball represents your physical existence. The flames burn as they begin to purify it. Each breath brings a lighter shade, from black to gray, lighter and lighter until the ball becomes a bright, white, crystalline sphere.
• Once the light has been purified, open your eyes, and stamp your foot or clap to ground the energy and to signify the end of the ritual.
