This invisibility ritual was incredibly useful in a prison environment, where you don’t want to attract any more notice than you absolutely have to. I learned this technique from reading John Michael Greer’s books. By invisibility I do not mean that you will literally vanish and become transparent to anyone looking at you. It’s more like a kind of camouflage that allows you to blend into the world, so that people take no notice of you unless they are looking specifically for you. After working with it for a while, I simplified it even further by eliminating the use of tools and the ceremonial format. While nowhere near as eloquent as John Michael Greer’s ritual, I found that my own version provided more than adequate results.
It essentially works exactly the same as the previous shielding techniques where you enclose yourself in an egg-shaped bubble of light, but this time we visualize it as being a deep, inky black (black being the color associated with the planet Saturn).
Begin by inhaling several times—at least three, but more if you want to make the effect stronger or last longer. Remember that the more effort you put into it, the more effect you’re likely to get out of it.
With each inhalation you are drawing chi, or energy, from the world around you.
Visualize it as if you are inhaling light that passes through your body, out the soles of your feet, and into the earth. See every inhalation completely filling the earth with light.
When you feel that you’ve accumulated enough chi/energy, extend your right arm and use the sword mudra to begin drawing a line of black light around yourself as you slowly turn in a circle. Begin back where you started so that you have connected the circle.
Reaching both arms out to your sides with both palms facing up, slowly raise them above your head until your palms touch. As you do so, envision that you are stretching the circle, closing it above your head like a dome. Repeat this movement with palms facing downward, envisioning that you are stretching the circle to close it beneath your feet.
Take a moment to visualize yourself completely enclosed in a black sphere, and KNOW that the eyes of anyone not looking for you specifically will glide over you while taking little to no interest in you or your activities.
The effect will wear off after a few hours—the time will vary depending on how much energy you put into it and how adept you become at it.
