We begin the practice of sending and receiving energy with the hands because there are large energy centers in the palms that facilitate it. In fact, there are energy centers all over the body. Most people are familiar with the seven energy centers we call the chakras. Many people in Western practices like High Magick and Kabbalah are familiar with the five energy centers used in these traditions. However, there are actually about 360 total energy centers in the body, all joined and connected by pathways that acupuncturists call meridians. The reason we feel drawn to hold hands with those we love is that we want to exchange energy. The same goes for kissing. The hands are a vehicle for directing energy. Think of Reiki, or the laying of hands on the Bible. Even looking at someone can create a huge surge of directed energy. Think of that the next time you meet a loved one’s eyes across the room.
There are many ways to direct energy to charge a substance or an object, but here is one of the easiest methods.
Place a glass of water on a table or counter before you. Inhale three times while visualizing the earth filling with more and more white light beneath your feet.
Envision the entire earth filling with more and more white light every time you inhale.
Visualize the air you inhale as white light that you are inhaling from the universe around you. This white light goes through your nostrils, through your body, and out through the soles of your feet and into the earth.
The entire earth is filled with this glowing white light—more and more of it, growing brighter and brighter with every inhalation.
Each time you exhale, visualize that the air is being released, but the chi stays within the earth until you consciously choose to release it.
When you are ready to release it, visualize all of the white light rushing back up through your body as you exhale, down your right arm, and out of your right hand.
Hold your right hand over the water—or hold the glass in your hand. As you exhale, see the light rush up through your body, out of your hand, and into the water. See the water in your mind’s eye as being filled with brilliant white light.
As you drink the water, visualize the light spreading through your entire body, filling it with light.
You should practice this with a glass of water several times a day until you are proficient at it. Once mastered, it can be utilized for many different purposes.
