ENJOY ALONE TIME

Alone time doesn’t mean being lonely. Sometimes it’s nice to be alone, especially after a long day or week of challenging classes, because it provides time to focus on yourself and what you need: a hot shower, a good book, a journaling session, or maybe a quick run. You’re constantly surrounded by people—from classmates to roommates, to the constant stream of campus tours—so take advantage of any opportunity to spend time with yourself. If you bunk with a roommate, try to plan out moments when you can each have the room to yourself. Find a bench to relax on while listening to music. Do your homework in a private study room. Alone time might feel unfamiliar at first, especially as you adjust to a more independent way of living at school, but it’s a simple way to practice self-care.
