WRITE A PERSONAL STATEMENT

You probably wrote a personal statement for college applications and any scholarship considerations—but don’t put that pen down just yet. A personal statement is also a great way to organize your academic and career goals, feel empowered, and even figure out the next steps toward success. Think of it as a way to tell the story of who you are, versus just what you have done.

Spend some time brainstorming what you want to say, then focus your statement on specific topics like what you’re passionate about, why you’re confident about your future, or how you made it through a difficult experience to come out stronger. For example, maybe you played sports your entire life and you want to major in physical therapy. What did those years teach you, and how would it apply to being successful in school or your career?
