ATTEND AN EXTRA-CURRICULAR SEMINAR

Outside of clubs and organized sports, extracurricular seminars or lectures by campus professors or invited speakers are worth the second look. Workshops and seminars encourage insightful conversations and help you develop new ideas. Plus, attending these types of events can help you feel more connected to other students, your professors, and your school as a whole. Some professors will even provide extra credit based on your attendance at certain extracurricular events, as these experiences further your knowledge in the class—and overall. In fact, an extracurricular event can have a huge impact on your perspective or opinions in some pretty unexpected ways, so take advantage. Interested in a topic that isn’t related to your own studies? You can also attend events outside of your department or program—the extra interest is more than welcome! Different seminars or lectures on campus can include poetry readings, political panels, historical films, personal experience lectures, and more.
