Every class comes with a detailed syllabus chock-full of reading assignments, quizzes, test dates, and much more, so it’s important to stay organized once a semester gets going. Be sure to have a planner (digital or paper—your pick!) to track homework, social plans, work schedules, and everything else you have going on, along with folders to keep all your class information and paperwork in the same spot. You can even color code your stuff for each class to help you visually keep it straight and find things quickly (yellow for math, since it’s your least favorite color and least favorite subject, for example). Use your smartphone or a whiteboard or corkboard to track quick notes or reminders to yourself, and list out important dates on a desk calendar or calendar app. Also, take some time to read through the entire syllabus early on so you know what to expect, and consider combining all the key dates for every class into one master syllabus for yourself so nothing gets overlooked.
